The Rolex Submariner is one of the most desirable and well-known diving watches ever made. The reference 1680 was the first Submariner produced with a date function. The present example comes from the original owner. He enlisted in the Air Force and served in Germany from 1966-69. After his military service, he completed a degree in engineering and bought this watch as a reward for his hard work. His subsequent career as a mechanical engineer in the pipeline industry brought him around the world to many of the great oil fields, with this watch as a rock-solid companion for 45 years. In 2015, the watch was sent to the Rolex service center in Dallas TX for a service, while preserving the original hands, bezel insert and dial. The bracelet was replaced with a modern solid link Oyster. The original folded link bracelet is included, as well. Here is a wonderful opportunity to own a great Rolex with impressive provenance.
