The Rolex Submariner is one of the most desirable and well-known collectible watches ever made. Rolex decided to update the line with a date model, ref. 1680 in 1969. The first few years of the 1680 were produced with the "Submariner" text in red. Over the years, examples that were sent back to Rolex for service had their dials replaced by the standard white version. The present example is a true time capsule, with the original dial, bezel, bracelet and truly unpolished case. The odds of finding a red Sub in this condition are extremely small. It is truly an investment grade example, one of the best in the world. This watch is being offered by the original owner, with the movement having been serviced last year, ready for the lucky new owner.
