Gold coin watches were extremely popular in the 1960s. The present example, made by Audemars Piguet and retailed by Tiffany & Co. is at the pinnacle of this kind of timepiece. The watch was made by hollowing out a genuine 1904 $20 gold coin, making the front into a hinged cover with a hidden button on the side. The watch inside tilts up at a 90 degree angle. It is housed in a frame, made of 18K white gold and studded with diamonds, with a button on the side to open the watch. This piece is perfect as a pendant, or as a pocket watch as it was originally intended.
